We are an enthusiastic and friendly triathlon club containing a good mix of male and female members of varying ages. The structure of the club supports both the serious trainer and competitor as well as those that are simply looking for an opportunity to exercise and socialising with like-minded individuals. We are based in the South West Edinburgh area where easy access to the Pentland Hills provides us with an ideal training environment (Google Map/Bing Map). We meet regularly to train and compete in triathlon (see the training and events calendar).
If you are keen to participate in a triathlon, but are tentative about competing in a full-on event, Pentland triathletes run short, informal events that are a great introduction to this multi-discipline sport. The next event is the Santa Try-a Tri on the 3rd December 2011 and involves a 400 metre pool swim, a 10 kilometre bike ride on quiet roads and a 5 kilometre flat off-road run. The event is based at Balerno High School and you need to be ready at the poolside for a 8:00 am start.
This is fun, non-sanctioned event that is free for all participants who will compete entirely at their own risk. Given the time of year the weather may have an impact so come dressed accordingly. Santa hats are encouraged but you must somehow get it to work with a bike helmet for the cycle. Also your christmas lights must allow you to see and be seen on your bike, as the fast swimmers will be out on their bikes before the 8:22 am sunrise.
The cycle and run routes will be marked but marshalling will be minimal, so pay attention at the race briefing!
We have booked a room in the school for after the event to allow you to socialise and warm up with cakes, tea, coffee and gluhwein.
This event is open to both members and non-members. If you plan to participate, please let us know by sending an e-mail to: events@pentlandtriathletes.co.uk
